HIGH POINT, N.C. – Coker College’s Mason Ambler has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men’s basketball Player of the Week during week number one in the 2008-09 season.

Ambler has been the driving force behind the Coker Cobras’ fast start to the 2008-2009 season.

Ambler has averaged 21.8 points per game, with 10.8 rebounds per game in the Cobras first four games, which includes a season opening 80-59 win over Division I Coastal Carolina.
Mason has recorded double-doubles in two of the four contests, with his first to start the season against Coastal with 22 points and 12 rebounds and his second coming against UNC-Pembroke, with 24 points and 14 rebounds. In addition to his stellar performance from the field, Ambler is shooting lights out from the free throw line, going 23 for 28 for 82.1 percent.

Ambler has helped the Cobras to a 3-2 start on the season.

Coker will travel to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., for a holiday tournament. The tournament will be held on Nov. 28-29.
