Ken Lester wasn’t born in Florence but never hesitates to answer where he is from. Lester, who moved to Florence from North Carolina when he was in fifth grade, starred in football and basketball at McClenaghan High School before playing at South Carolina. For his accomplishments, Lester will be enshrined tonight in the Florence Athletic Hall of Fame along with seven others.

I ventured over to Mullins this past week to check out a little JV action. I got there at the end of the girls game against Myrtle Beach, so I did not see much to talk about in terms of girls. I did catch the boys play and even though they came up on the losing end against a Seahawks squad that looks pretty good themselves, a few of the Mullins kids jumped right off the pages for me.
