He spent the last decade once again ignoring the obvious, refusing to accept that his race team wasn’t any good. No matter how bad things got at Petty Enterprises, The King always believed he had another trip to Victory Lane in his near future.

Kahne holds off Stewart for 1st road course win
Kasey Kahne figured a spot in the Chase for the championship was an unrealistic goal just two months ago. Then came a strong five-race stretch, punctuated by Sunday’s win at Infineon Raceway. It came at a road course, of all places, and snapped Kahne’s 37-race winless streak.
Rogers wins Grand Strand 250 at Myrtle Beach Speedway
Clay Rogers and A.J. Frank may be close friends, even neighbors, but relationships are irrelevant on the race track, as Rogers out-performed Frank for his third victory this season in Saturday night’s Grand Strand 250 presented by Black’s Tire & Auto Service at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

50-year-old Mark Martin wins Cup race in Michigan
Mark Martin was just trying to finish. He ended up in Victory Lane. With the laps winding down in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway, Martin and most of the other drivers in the LifeLock 400 were simply hoping to conserve enough gas to get to the end of the 200-lap event.

Mellower Martin enjoying recent success

NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield has been suspended indefinitely after failing a random drug test. The result stems from a test last weekend at Richmond International Raceway. NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter will not reveal what banned drug Mayfield used.
