FLORENCE — The Florence Phantoms announced the return of 2008 American Indoor Football Association general manager of the year Bennie King on Friday.
Under Bennie’s leadership as VP of Operations last year the Phantoms had their most successful season in team history and captured the 2008 AIFA Championship.
Winning championships is nothing new to King in indoor football. Before coming to Florence, King was general manager for the 2007 league-champion Lakeland Thunderbolts.
“I thank our team owner Barbara Spigner for the opportunity and confidence to lead this organization.” King said. “I can assure the fans of the Pee Dee that we will bring the same type of product on the field and off this year as we defend our championship.
“We’re looking for the fans and the community to come out and support us and build off that great attendance in our last game versus Wyoming.”
The Phantoms open the season March 7 when they host the Carolina Speed.
