WILMINGTON, N.C. — Steven Neff had three hits and Stephen McRay pitched seven strong innings as the Florence RedWolves defeated Wilmington 9-3 on Friday night.

Neff, who was a triple short of hitting for the cycle drove in three runs for Florence, which broke the game open with a four-run eighth inning.

Brad Raj and Myckie Lugbauer each added two hits and Sam DiMatteo scored three runs.

“The guys bounced back from last night and had good at bats,” Florence coach Wes Davis said. “We had big two out hits and that is always going to make or break you.”

McRay got the winning, going seven innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out 10.

Drew Wingo led the Sharks with two hits.

The two teams will meet again tonight at American Legion beginning at 7:30 p.m.
