Pelicans succeed at box office, not so on field

It would’ve been almost impossible for the 2009 Pelicans to replicate the season their predecessors had.

The 2008 birds set the franchise record for wins, and had more wins than any other team in the minors.

But this year’s birds, despite having close to record crowds, could not turn box office success into on the field success. 

The birds going into their season finale tonight with just 53 victories—26 less than last year and the lowest number in franchise history.
