Hudson gets loss as Pelicans fall to Rocks
Tim Hudson’s second rehab start was not as strong as his first, and he was saddled with the loss in the Pelicans 5-3 defeat at the hands of Wilmington Thursday night.
Owls rout RedWolves
After dominating the Coastal Plain League in the first half, The Forest City Owls haven’t missed a beat in the second half. Brian Burton hit a first-inning grand slam and Konstantine Diamadur had three hits and four RBI as the Forest City Owls defeated the Florence Redwolves 9-3 on Thursday at Legion Field.
Pelicans rocked by Wilmington
Squeezing out a 1-0 win in the series opener, the Pelicans got by with little offensive production. With their bats again quiet in the middle contest of a three-game set with the Wilmington Blue Rocks, the Pelicans weren’t so fortunate on the defensive end.

CPL All-Star Game ends in tie
The National All-Stars and American All-Stars played to a 2-2 tie in 10 innings in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game at Buck Hardee Field on Tuesday night.
The National squad took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a run-scoring single from Outer Banks’ Dylan Petrich.

Miscues dash Pelicans’ victory hopes
Four errors doom the Pelicans against the Dash Monday night as Winston-Salem took the finale and the three-game series by way of a 7-3 victory. The loss dropped the Pelicans another half-game behind idle Salem in the Carolina League Southern Division.

Kleinknecht looks to defend derby crown
Barrett Kleinknecht isn’t your prototypical home run hitter. The Florence RedWolves infielder is more of a gap-to-gap guy. Nonetheless, Kleinknecht enters tonight’s Coastal Plain League All-Star Game home run derby in Wilmington as the event’s defending champion.
Hudson strong in Pelicans victory
Tim Hudson hasn’t pitched in almost a year. But on Sunday night it was obvious that he had not forgotten what had made him a two time all-star and 20 game winner. Hudson pitched two hitless innings in his rehab start in Myrtle Beach, as the Pelicans topped the Dash 7-2.

The Columbia Blowfish touched Florence starter Ali Williams for four runs in the third inning and cruised to an 8-3 Coastal Plain League win on Thursday night.

Taylor lives up to all-star billing in RedWolves’ win
On Tuesday morning, John Taylor was named a Coastal Plain League all-star. On Tuesday night, he pitched like one. The right-hander gave up one run over seven innings, leading the Florence RedWolves to a 9-6 win over the Wilson Tobs.
DiMatteo makes CPL all-star roster
On June 11, Sam DiMatteo couldn’t smell the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game. In fact, he was having trouble just sniffing out his next hit. But DiMatteo has been on a tear since then and was selected Tuesday to play in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game.

RedWolves win, back in first place
Brad Raj had two hits and two RBI as the Florence RedWolves defeated Asheboro 6-4 on Sunday. The win moves Florence back in first place in the South Division by a 1/2 game over idle Wilson.

Forest City edges RedWolves
For the first time this season, the Florence RedWolves went up against the Forest City Owls, the top-ranked summer team according to Perfect Game Crosschecker.
For seven innings, the two squads matched each other hit for hit and run for run.
Big inning keys Pelicans victory
One inning’s worth of runs was enough for the Pelicans to top the Keys. Myrtle Beach used a six-run fifth inning to fly by the Frederick Keys 11-4.

Francis Marion’s Taylor Norfleet’s two-run double in the eighth inning helped the Fayetteville SwampDogs to a 3-2 win over the Florence RedWolves on Thursday. Florence led 2-1 going into the eighth inning before Norfleet’s game-winner off reliever John Taylor, who took the loss in relief of Brad Raj.

Felton misses high, outside for Pelicans
Anyone from Latta knows that Raymond Felton is a gifted athlete. He could’ve been a shortstop in the majors, a quarterback in the NFL or a point guard in the NBA. Heels and Bobcats fans are happy he chose that third route, but he had the opportunity to hit the baseball diamond Wednesday.
