High School Basketball Roundup: Osborne leads Trojans past Laurence Manning
Led by Meghan Osborne’s double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, The Byrnes Schools managed a 43-42 victory over Laurence Manning on Monday in high schools girls basketball.
Taneyhill, Boyd bring plenty of experience

Eagles score late touchdown to beat Lake View 30-22, win lower state
Champions sometimes need a couple of breaks. With the score tied at 22-22 with just over a minute left in the 1A Division II lower state championship game between defending state champion Scott’s Branch High School and Lake View, the game seemed destined for overtime as Lake View was running out the clock deep in its own territory. Then the break happened.
Marlboro County holds off Lake City
Marlboro County quarterback Elliot Alford spent the entire summer reliving the Class 3A lower state championship from last year. He felt he should have made one more play to help the Bulldogs advance then. Friday night against Lake City, he made up for it.
Dillon knocks off Timberland again
For the second straight year, the Dillon Wildcats ended Timberland’s bid for a Class 2A state title and a perfect season.
Lamar defense shines brighter in win over Tigers
For the fourth time, the Lamar Silver Foxes attempted to succeed where they had failed three times before — to punch their ticket to Orangeburg to play for the Class A Division I state football championship. Hemingway and its defense made it anything but easy Friday night, the Lamar defense was even better.

Dillon Christian chases another state championship
Not a lot has changed at Dillon Christian during the last year or so. At least, not on the football field. Not more than two weeks after the Warriors won the 2008 SCISA Class A state championship, coach Kelly Williamson and his staff had their team back in the weight room preparing for this season.

Improved Cheraw hoping for results
Not since 2001 has Cheraw High School missed out on making it at least to the third round of the 2A football state playoffs. After a 0-3 start to this season and staring 0-4 in the face, things looked gloomy to keep that streak alive. But the Braves rallied against Central in that fourth game and have won eight of nine games to advance to the third round for the eighth straight year.

First let me start by saying that I was entertained and enjoyed every game on the sidelines during the prep football season.
I was proud of the effort Creek Bridge showed every week in a very tough region. The squad scored a ton of points and played in some very close games.
