Inside the David C. Bult Gymtorium hang banners that show more than 30 state championships in the school’s long and rich athletic history.
But, no other sport has hung more of those than track. A sport that Paula and Bob Heaberlin took to prominence with the Golden Eagles is now back in full swing with Tommy Nolan at the helm to guide the way.

In recent meets, Pee Dee has shown glimpses of past glory as Mallor Nolan has dominated in the 100 and 200 meters and the girl’s 4 x 100 team has also served notice to SCISA opponents.
In a reason meet at Heathwood Hall, Nolan placed second in the 100 and 200 and the girl’s 4 x 100 team consisting of C.C. Causey, Nolan, Jessica Webb and Robin Bucy finished second as well. T.J. Bass qualified for state in the shotput with a 4th place finish.
The 4 x 800 team also made strong showings in meets versus Orangeburg Prep, Aynor High and Dillon Christian. This team consisted of Sloan Moore, Lindsey Richardson, Amber Mincey and Mary Klauber.

The track team’s roster this year includes seniors Nolan and Bass along with the Hewitt twins Scott and Jason; juniors Katelyn Browne, C.C Causey and Haley Smith; sophomores Anna Whaley, Cole McClam, Morgan Bass, Kensley Atkinson, Will Richardson and Walker Moore; freshmen Sara Richardson, Sarah Sarvis, Will Baker, Ethan Brown and Jessica Webb; eighth graders, Robin Bucy, Mary Klauber and Sloan Moore; and seventh graders, Taylor Herrington, Amber Mincey and Lindsey Richardson.

The state track meet will be on May 2 at Heathwood Hall in Columbia.
