The linebacker was cut by the Chargers after his second year in the NFL, then signed by the Saints. Despite the change of scenery, he still found the time to come back to his hometown to help young ballplayers.
Waters held his first annual football camp at Lake View High School from Tuesday through Thursday. Waters provided the camp for free for area kids, and provided lunch each day. Waters put the kids of all ages through a variety of drills and scrimmages to help teach them about the sport and about maturity.
Waters said the main reason why he started the camp this year was because there was no one like him who he had when he was their age.
The Clemson product injured his knee his senior season, then missed his entire rookie season in the NFL. He played sparingly last year in San Diego, and then was released shortly after the season was over. He reports to camp with New Orleans at the end of this year.
