Bottom line
Hemingway already has gotten to a rocky start by losing three starters, including quarterback and all-Pee Dee performer Denzell Wedgeworth. The senior broke his leg during a scrimmage against North Central and will miss the remainder of the season.
Tashan Frederick, the leading scorer on the Tigers basketball team, moves over from receiver and replace Wedgeworth.
“Tashan is a good option quarterback who just lacks experience,” Hemingway coach Ken Cribb said. “I think once he gets a little of that he wwill be fine.”
Frederick’s transition will be helped with an experienced offensive line made up of four seniors and talented running back Antonio Mitchum, who also plays linebacker.
“No one person can replace Denzell,” Cribb said. “It’s going to be a team effort and we will try and put it behind us.”
