South Florence Football Preview

Simplify, simplify, simplify.  New South Florence Head Coach Lynn Fleming is taking Henry David Thoreau’s words to heart, as he tries to lead the Bruins through their second regime change in two years.

Brian Lane came for a year, then left to take a job at Woodruff.  So the Bruins have had three coaches in three years.  Fleming understands the upheaval, so he’s worked to include some of what both Lane and Ken Cribb taught the kids, while still sprinkling in a little of his background from the upstate.

Lane increased the numbers, improved the discipline and opened up the offense in his sole season.  Fleming is hoping to do all those, AND win, which SoFlo was only able to do twice last year.  Of course, stuck in a region with Sumter, Conway, Hartsville, and West Florence, winning may not come soon.  But that’s ok for the former West Oak coach.  His goal this season is to be competitive.  If they can do that, the wins will come.
