Silver Foxes pummel Marion
MARION – The Lamar High School football team defeated the Marion Swamp Foxes easily 43-19 on Friday night.
Lamar garnered nearly 500 total yards of offense during the game, including a 400-yard rushing performance, while the defense held Marion to only 231 yards.
Jonathan Dargan led the Silver Foxes with a stellar performance. Dargan finished the game with 199 yards rushing on 29 attempts and two trips to the end zone.
Dargan was followed by Ricardo Nelson, who finished with 113 yards rushing on 13 carries and a touchdown, while Jerrod Dargan chipped in 75 yards rushing on 13 carries and two touchdowns. BJ Goodman caught all three passes for the Silver Foxes for 94 yards, including a 47-yard pass.
The Silver Foxes gained 6.6 yards per carry rushing the ball, and Lamar’s defense held Marion to just over 200 yards of total offense.
Lamar improves its record to 4-1 on the season. The team is off this Friday, but they will begin region play Friday, Oct. 3, as they travel to play C.E. Murray at 7:30 p.m.
Lamar was undefeated in region play last year, and they will look to do the same in 2008.
