Pee Dee trio sign to play college football

Three more Pee Dee athletes signed letters of intent to play college football.

West Florence’s Justin Bostick signed to played with Newberry, Lamar’s Reece Poole is headed to Brevard College in North Carolina and South Florence’s Troy Jones has signed to play with North Greenville.

Bostick, a three-year starter for the Knight’s, will join his brother Brandon at Newberry.

The younger Bostick was a three-year starter for the Knights and played linebacker and fullback this season. He will play linebacker for the Indians.

This season, Bostick had 98 tackles,  three sacks and two INTs and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

“He’s just a great kid,” West coach Trey Woodberry said.  “He was a big leader on this year’s team and has shown great improvement from his year up until now.”
Poole started out as quarterback for the Silver Foxes this season before being moved to offensive line, where he started the rest of the season.
Poole also is a pitcher on the Silver Foxes baseball team.

“Reece is a good offensive lineman who made all of our front calls this season and did an excellent job,” Lamar coach J.R. Boyd said. “Brevard is getting a knowledgeable player and student for their program.”

Jones was a two-year starter for the Bruins at quarterback and had an impressive senior season.

A dual-threat, Jones rushed 146 times for 783 yards and seven touchdowns while throwing for 581 yards and four touchdowns.

“They’re getting someone with great character and leadership ability,” South coach Lynn Fleming said. “He’s a tremendous athlete and we tried to put the ball in his hands this season and he made big plays for us.”
