HEMINGWAY – The Tigers’ football season dimmed last Friday evening, as quarterback Denzell Wedgeworth was hit and suffered a complete break in both bones of his lower leg, sidelining him for the rest of the football season.
Hemingway football Coach Ken Cribb said Wedgeworth was secheduled for surgery Monday to place a rod to help with the healing. “We can’t replace him with one person; everyone on the team is going to have to step up a bit to replace him,” said Cribb.
The injury happened during a scrimmage at Lamar against the North Central team. Cribb said the play was questionable, and tapes of the game were being reviewed by the league. He did not know if any action would be taken.
