Lake View’s Quandon Christian and Carvers Bay’s Kwame Geathers both took it personally that they were not selected to a state all-star game.  They showed it in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.  The duo paced Team East to a 29-3 defeat of Team West to improve to 3-0 in the series.

Geathers was named defensive MVP after making seven tackles and one a half sacks.  Christian also made multiple sacks during the game.

Atlanta Carver High running back Demond Dennis earned Offensive MVP honors by tallying more than 100 yards of offense (49 rushing, 53 receiving) to lead the East’s win.

The East defense was first to score by pinning the West with a safety. The offense struck two plays later when Zach Mettenberger hit Stephen Hill for a 68-yard touchdown bomb.

East quarterback Eugene Smith got his shot on the next series and took advantage with a long scoring drive, capped by his 15-yard TD pass to Desmond Parks to make it 16-0. Andrew Lloyd added a 42-yard field goal just before halftime to make it a 22-0 lead.

The West finally got on the board with a long drive to start the second half but had to settle for a 23-yard field goal by Mitch Ewald. It was the last time it let the scoreboard.

The East quickly answered with a 39-field goal by Lloyd and Adam Morgan found tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen in the end zone to cap the scoring and a 29-3 win for the East.
