Falcons rout Tigers for playoff berth

FLORENCE — The Darlington Falcons wrapped up a Class 3A spot and knocked out the rival Wilson Tigers in the process with a 41-15 win Friday at Memorial Stadium.
The victory forced a three-way tie in the Region 6-3A between Crestwood, Darlington and Wilson. The Knights grabbed the third spot by giving up the fewest points in games between the three teams.
The Falcons got the fourth spot because of the head-to-head victory over the Tigers and will be in the postseason for the first time since 2006.
Darlington running back Dominique Cooper rushed for two touchdowns and also caught one in the victory. Quarterback Damien Dubose also added two touchdowns.
Marlboro County 14, Camden 7
BENNETTSVILLE — Shrine Bowl selection Thomas Teal scored both of Marlboro’s touchdowns, including the game-winner with 2:14 remaining, and Lee Pegues scored the two-point conversion as the
Bulldogs capped their perfect 10-0 regular season with the Region 6-3A championship.
Dillon 23, Cheraw 6
DILLON — Desmond Hayes threw for 105 yards and also rushed for two touchdowns as the Wildcats clinched the Region 8-2A title and avenged their recent struggles.
It was the Wildcats’ first win over Cheraw since 2003.
The Wildcats put the game away after the Braves scored to make it 17-6 in the fourth quarter with a 17-play, 54-yard drive which took 10:52 and was capped off by Hayes’ 2-yard run.

MARION — The Auctioneers wrapped up a playoff spot for the first time in three seasons with a win over the rival Swamp Foxes.
Mullins forced six turnovers and Cey’Quan Ritter returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown.
Ross White passed for 151 yards and a touchdown in the loss for Marion, who will go into the playoffs as the No. 4 seed.

GEORGETOWN — Shon Carson rushed for two touchdowns and quarterback DeShawn Butler threw for another in the Panthers’ win.
Carson finished with just 63 yards on 10 carries for the Panthers, who led 32-0 at halftime. Lake City held Georgetown to 60 yards of offense.
