Two Pee Dee football players will get a chance to play one final game in their high school careers
Lake View’s Quandon Christian and Carvers Bay’s Kwame Geathers will play in today’s Offense-Defense All American Bowl held Coastal Carolina’s Brooks Stadium.
Christian, a Clemson commitment, had 78 tackles this season and also rushed for 1,319 yards and 19 touchdowns during the regular season.
Geathers, who is undecided about his college future, had 83 tackles and five sacks this year.
The duo isn’t the first Pee Dee players to take part in the game. Cheraw’s Cliff Matthews, who is playing at South Carolina, played in the innagual game in 2007.
That game also featured USC quarterback Stephen Garcia.
This year’s features 88 of the best high school seniors in the country.
Leading the West is running back David Oku of Carl Albert (Okla.) High, the No. 1 all-purpose back in the nation according to Rivals.com. The Tennessee commitment will share the running load with LSU commit Dexter Pratt of Navasota, Texas, Jamal Miles of Peoria, Ariz., and Aaron Hardwick of Phoenix (Ariz.).
The West quarterback trio already have their college plans affirmed — Raymond Cotton (Auburn) of Mobile, Ala., Chris Garrett (LSU) of Tupelo, Miss., and Jordan Luallen (Georgia Tech) of Center Grove, Ind.
The West roster also will include Jerry Rice Jr. of Menlo (Calif.). Rice is the son of Hal of Famer Jerry Rice, the NFL’s all-time leading receiver.
And the East has its fair share of offensive firepower, led by quarterbacks Adam Morgan of Dinwiddie (Va.) High, West Virginia commitment Eugene Smith of Mirimar (Fla.) High and Zach Mettenberger of Oconee County (Ga.) High, a commitment to Georgia.
This is the first time the game has been held at Brooks Stadium. Last year, the game was held at Dolphin Stadium in Miami.
