Freshman defensive lineman Kwame Geathers has been cleared by an NCAA academic review to join the Georgia football team.  The Carvers Bay product had missed the first four days of workouts. Coach Mark Richt said Thursday “Kwame is in.“

The NCAA had to complete its review of Geathers’ academic eligibility before he was allowed to participate in preseason practice.

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound Geathers is the younger brother of former Georgia player Robert Geathers, now with the Cincinnati Bengals, and current South Carolina defensive end Clifton Geathers.

Geathers is expected to join the team on Friday.
