Wilson shines in all-star classic, Marion’s Brantley named region’s top player

Mullins Auctioneer shooting guard Stacy Wilson dazzled in this past Saturday’s Carolinas All Star Basketball Classic at Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach.
In a game that features the top players from North and South Carolina, Wilson score 18 points, shooting 5 of 10 from the field and knocking down all four of his three point shot attempts.
The North Carolina All-Star squad cruised to an 106-82 victory. Wilson’s opponent in the Class 2A state championhip Robbie Dreher led the South All-Stars with 23 points, a single point away from the Carolinas All-Star Classic record. Wilson High School’s dynamic guard Shamel Brackett also played in the game.
Marion Lady Swamp Fox forward Geneika Brantley has been named the Region 8-2A Player of the Year. Brantely, who is also a member of the All-State team, averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds per game, leading her squad to a Class 2A state championship.
Brantley’s teammates, Shaquita Taylor and Candace Wright were also named to the this year’s All-Region team.
