SPARTANBURG – Florence’s 22-game winning streak ended early Saturday morning with a 5-2 loss to Irmo-Chapin in the American Legion state tournament being held at Duncan Park Stadium.

Rain delays earlier in the day pushed the game back to a 9:50 p.m. start and it ended at 12:42 a.m. Florence plays Conway at 1 p.m. Saturday in a semifinals game, followed by Irmo-Chapin against West Columbia at 4:30 p.m. The title game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Kaden Watson had a two-run single in the sixth to give Irmo-Chapin its final two runs. Watson, who plays at Spartanburg Methodist College, was 3-for-4. Tyler Martin got the win after pitching six innings and allowing only three hits.

Robbie Brown went seven frames on the mound for Florence. Cody Ritch had two of the team’s four hits, including a home run. Post 1 batters left 10 runners on base and struck out seven times.
