Forfeit helps Post 73 move on

Despite winning only one game in its first-round series, Lake City is moving on in the legion playoffs.

Post 73 is advancing to play Post 1 on Monday after Goose Creek forfeited the remaining two games of the series because many of their players were playing in a football camp this weekend.

Lake City lost the first two games of the series but won 4-3 Friday. Two of the games were rained out, forcing games to be held this weekend.

It will be the first time since 2006 Florence and Lake City have met in the playoffs.

Florence, which swept Manning, won all four games this year against Lake City.

First pitch is set for Monday at 7 p.m. at Legion Field.
