Conway loses title at home

The Conway Tiger baseball team failed in to win its first ever state title, losing at home to Boiling Springs 5-1 in the AAAA Championship Game.  The Tigers were trying to become the first Conway High School athletic team to ever win a title.

Boiling Springs took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first after an RBI single from Jimmy Revan.  Conway tied it in the bottom of the inning thanks to a Colby Holmes RBI single.

But then the Bulldogs blew it open, thanks to a four run inning.  Boiling Springs benefited from a two run homer by Cameron Holmes, and back-to-back RBI singles by Taylor Hollifield and Josh Pless that gave them what would eventually be the final score.

Conway had its best chance to make a dent in the lead in the fifth.  The Tigers loaded the bases, but leading hitter Mac Doyle struck out to end the inning.

In addition to hitting the home run, Holmes also pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs.

Conway had been undefeated at home this year before Wednesday night’s game.
