Baseball All-State Teams announced

This was another banner season for baseball teams on the Pee Dee and Grand Strand, and the 2008 South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-State Teams are littered with local players.

In AAAA, four members of the Lower State Champion Conway Tigers are on the squad, including shortstop Jeff Caskey, catcher Mac Doyle, pitcher Colby Holmes and second baseman Bobby Watford.  Sticking in that district, Jordan Lyles of Hartsville also made the list.

In AAA, Carolina Forest shorstop Ryan Stewart and Lake City pitcher Reggie Weatherford are both on the All-State Team.

In AA, three member of the Lower State Champion Dillon Tigers are on the squad.  Shortstop Dustin Britt, and pitchers Jay Harrison and Travis Murphy all earned spots.  Also Marion pitcher Jarrott Hooks and Aynor catcher Will Chandler are on the team.

In A, eastern South Carolina dominated the team.  Lamar IF/P Tyler Boyd was named Player of the Year, and Chesterfield’s Jimmy Weatherford was named Coach of the Year.  Weatherford had two members of his Upper State Champion Rams make the squad - pitcher Brandon Sellers and second baseman Richie Dixon.  Johnsonville pitcher Brock Cooper and Terrence Legette and Trip Strickland of Lake View also made the A All-State Team.
