HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Silver Foxes’ season comes to a close
A nine-run third inning by defending Class A champion Bamberg-Ehrhardt placed Lamar in a hole it never escaped from in a lower state elimination game.
Reece Poole’s solo home run in the top of the first put the Silver Foxes ahead 1-0. Bamberg tied the game in the bottom of the second after capitalizing on a fielding error by Poole at third base, then broke it open in the third after sending 14 batters to the plate.

Prep roundup: Lamar baseball stays alive in Class A playoffs
Lamar blew a six-run lead but rallied in the bottom of the sixth for a 9-8 victory over Green Sea-Floyds in a Class A elimination game Tuesday.
Swamp Foxes’ state title bid ends
Coming off a three-game winning streak in the beginning of their bid for a state championship, the Marion High School Swamp Foxes’ baseball season came to an end Monday.

PREP BASEBALL: Johnsonville beats B-E, move into lower state title game
Tracy Bishop was 3-for-4 with three RBI and went the distance in a back-and-forth game dominated by the offenses as Johnsonville advanced to the Class A lower state title game by beating Bamberg-Ehrhardt 9-8 on Monday.

Spring Break interrupts games’ rhythm
Both the Golden Eagles baseball and softball teams showed flashes of brilliance on April 21 when they traveled to Lake City to take on Carolina Academy. But, stiff play that led to errors and lack-luster play came back to bite them in the end. SCISA playoffs begin this week for the baseball team and next week for the softball team…

Ethan Cribb and Tracy Bishop each drove in two runs as the Flashes completed a 12-0 season in Region 8-A with a 10-5 win over Gree Sea-Floyds on Saturday.
Conway baseball struggles
Conway lost in the high school baseball state championship last year, and this year was the favorite to win 4A Region 6. But the Tigers have already lost to Hartsville and Sumter, and needed 16 strikeouts and a home run from Colby Holmes to beat Carolina Forest last Friday.

Paul VI wins SBC Classic
HARTSVILLE — Paul VI claimed their second straight Southeastern Baseball Classic championship with a 9-2 win over Gaffney on Saturday at Jimmy White Park.
Paul VI is the second team to repeat as champions in the 13-year history of the tournament. The only other team to do it was Pelham High School of Alabama when the Panthers did it in 1999-2000.
Mincey helps Hartsville to win at SBC
Cody Mincey pitched a complete game for the Hartsville Red Foxes on Friday, allowing one earned run on six hits.
But he saved his best for last.

In his first career start for Hartsville, Jent Jones allowed two runs on four hits in six innings as the Red Foxes earned a 6-3 victory over Lakewood on Thursday at the Southeastern Baseball Classic.
