Post 1 has high hopes for historic 75th season
Throughout the upcoming season, the Florence Post 1 American Legion baseball team will be commemorating its 75-year history. And coach Derick Urquhart and his players already expect this year will be one of the more memorable ones.

Dillon comes up short again in bid for state championship
From the outset, Friday night’s Class 2A baseball championship game between Dillon and Gilbert was anything but pretty. In a contest that saw eight errors, nine wild pitches and a 15-minute rain delay, someone had to win it.

Conway loses title at home
The Conway Tiger baseball team failed in to win its first ever state title, losing at home to Boiling Springs 5-1 in the AAAA Championship game.
Wildcats still alive in 2A baseball finals
GILBERT — Behind three home runs and six strong innings from Travis Murphy, Dillon took game two on the road Wednesday to send the Class 2A baseball state championship series to its final game with a 5-1 win.
The Wildcats tied the best-of-three series at 1-1. Game three is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at West Florence High School.

Gilbert gets leg up on Dillon in 2A baseball series
DILLON — Dillon cut Gilbert’s lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, but a home run in the top of the sixth put the Indians up three and they held on for the 4-1 win in game one of the 2A baseball finals Monday.
The second game of the best-of-three series is scheduled for Wednesday at Gilbert.

Red Foxes fall short in district
The Red Foxes took to the diamond on Wednesday afternoon against Wando only needing to win one game in the schedule doubleheader. They had already defeated Wando 10-2 in the two teams’ first meeting.

Foxes show teeth in first round
The Hartsville varsity baseball team rolled into the state playoffs as a number two seed and number two in the state. They have shown their determination winning both games.

Latta baseball downs Allendale-Fairfax 11-0
Philip Bethea gave up just two hits and struck out seven while Quentin Gaddy was 4-for-4 with three RBI to help Latta blank Allendale-Fairfax 11-0 on Friday to avoid elimination in the Class A baseball playoffs.

Lamar gets off to fast start against Latta
Latta starter Jed Hayes tested Lamar’s patience early in Thursday’s first-round Class A playoff game by working at a slower pace and keeping the Silver Foxes off balance. But once an opportunity presented itself, Lamar made sure the game quickly turned in its favor.

Bruins rout Wilson
South Florence’s baseball team entered Wednesday’s matchup with Wilson needing a win to keep pace with West Florence for the final playoff spot in Region 6-4A. The Bruins did that as Spencer Jordan tossed a one-hitter and South pounded 13 hits in the 13-0 win over the Tigers in five innings.

Knights control playoff fate after blowing out Wilson
Dale Sylvester’s first home run of the season gave the West Florence baseball team its first lead of the night Tuesday against Wilson. His second homer, a grand slam, sent everyone home early and sealed a critical non-region win for the Knights.
Panthers take first place
The Lake City Panthers took advantage of a six-run first inning to take over first place in Region V-3A on Tuesday, April 8, with a 12-6 region win over Wilson.
Mullins dedicates field to Nelson on opening day
