The girls’ team finished in first place in the 200Y medley relay with a time of 2:10.59. Olivia Crabtree finished second in the 200Y freestyle in a time of 2:15.35 as well for the Lady Foxes. Crabtree also finished third in the 100Y butterfly.
Jacob Godwin finished in third place in the boys’ 100Y butterfly and notched a first-place finish in the boys’ 100Y breaststroke. Leah Hassler brought home a second-place finish in the girls’ 100Y breaststroke.
The team will travel to Francis Marion University on Saturday for the region meet.
“I’m excited about our chances to swim fast,” Hartsville head coach Raymond Kennedy said of the region meet. “The team has worked extremely hard in practice this week, and everybody has swum a personal best already this year.”
Kennedy said the team will have a couple days of intense practice followed by a couple of easier days in which the team focuses on speed work, starts and turns.
“Hopefully, we will be rested enough so that everyone is swimming best times at regionals and several of our kids will qualify for state’s.”
