FMU falls twice at Lander tourney

GREENWOOD — Francis Marion lost a pair of matches at Lander University’s Dig Pink Volleyball Tournament on Friday.

In their first match of the day, Francis Marion fell to Anderson University (14-10) in three games: 25-20, 25-20, 25-17.  Senior middle blocker Mallory Eggert paced FMU with seven kills, while senior setter

Jess O’Leary handed out 13 assists and sophomore Ashlyn Underhill recorded 14 digs.

In the evening, FMU (11-12) dropped a five-game match to Lees-McRae College 25-14, 18-25, 25-17, 25-27, 15-9.  Underhill registered 14 kills, while sophomore Ashlee Crook had a double-double with 10
kills and 14 digs.  O’Leary also posted a double-double with 20 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore setter Hallie Legg added 18 assists and libero Kelsie Deaton dug up 19 balls.  Eggert had a team-high eight blocks.

Today, Francis Marion will face Limestone College (12-14) at 11 a.m. and then 24th-ranked Wingate University at 5 p.m.
