Led by sophomore Ashlee Crook, FMU split its two matches on at the season-opening Chick-fil-A Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Carson-Newman College.
Facing a pair of squads that both went to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2008, FMU defeated Lincoln Memorial University 25-15, 26-28, 25-18, 25-14, before losing to the host school 20-25, 25-15, 25-20, 26-24.

FMU volleyball opens season today

The Francis Marion volleyball team will open its season on todaywhen the Patriots take part in the Carson-Newman College Tournament in Jefferson City, Tenn.
FMU will open with Lincoln Memorial University on Friday at 3 p.m. and will meet the host school at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Patriots will play Lees-McRae College at noon and Davis & Elkins College at 4 p.m.

Six different players scored scored as Navy downed Francis Marion 6-2 on Sunday in women’s college soccer action. The Midshipmen (2-0-0) handed FMU (0-2-0) a rare home loss as the Patriots fell to 93-19-6 all-time on the FMU Soccer Field.

Patriot women open soccer season at Campbell

A losing season isn’t something that is common for the Francis Marion women’s soccer program. The Patriots suffered only their second losing season in the 14-year history of the program last year when they went 6-12-1. And first-year coach Joe Person hopes it doesn’t become a trend.

UNCW blanks Patriot men

Devan Carroll and Nassim Berhouni each scored early in the first and second halves, respectively, as UNC Wilmington notched a 3-0 win over visiting Francis Marion in a men’s soccer exhibition match on Tuesday.
