VOLLEYBALL: Brevard sweeps Coker, 3-0

BREVARD, N.C. – In the home opener in the newly renovated Boshamer Gymnasium, the Brevard College women’s volleyball team dominated from start to finish, defeating Coker College in three sets 25-16, 25-18 and 25-23.

With the win the Tornados move to 4-1 on the year, while Coker falls to 1-5.

For the match, the Tornados were led by setter Jami Perry who dished out 19 assists and recorded six kills.  Brooke Seaman added a team-high seven kills, while Trojan and sophomore Kirstan Carlson had four kills apiece.

Newcomers Chelsea Larsen and Osby added two and three kills, respectively.

The Tornados had 10 service aces for the match led by Trojan’s three.

Coker was led by Kristin Teets, who had 10 kills and one block assist.  Fellow outside hitter Cynallyhia Indriago posted seven kills for the match to go along with her seven digs.  Libero Kelsey Carlson had 11 digs over the three-set match.

Both the Tornados and Coker College will be in action again Saturday, as the two squads will compete in day two of the BC Volleyball Tournament. The Cobras will play Columbia College at noon and Virginia Intermont at 4 p.m. Brevard will play Virginia Intermont at 2 p.m. and will wrap up the tournament with a contest versus Columbia College at 6 p.m.
