Lees-McRae’s Berin Boracic tallied all three goals , as the fourth-ranked Bobcats defeated the No. 23 Coker 3-1 on Saturday.

Anderson defeats Coker volleyball

Using a balanced attack, the Anderson volleyball team claimed its’ second consecutive win by blanking conference opponent Coker, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-10)
Jamie Lancaster, who is eighth in the nation in kills per set, recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs, while freshman Paulette Rivers garnered a match-high 13 kills. Doggett posted 19 assists in limited action and Moffitt recorded three kills and 12 assists.

Coker’s Daniel Shirzad’s goal in the match’s 75th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Cobras defeated Erskine 3-2 on Saturday in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action.

In their second day of the Labor Day tournament at Limestone, the Coker Cobras failed to pick up a win in two matches.

Cobra Men shutout Mars Hill 2-0

The Lions’ men’s soccer team lost to Coker College Saturday afternoon, 2-0 in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 0-3-1 while the Cobras improved to 4-0 on the season.

Coker volleyball drops opening matches

Coker volleyball opened its season Friday with a pair of losses in the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational.
UNC Pembroke defeated the Cobras in straight sets 25-11, 25-17 and 25-21, while Lenoir-Rhyne beat Coker 28-26, 25-23 and 25-17.

Stiefield and Barrientos Lead Cobras to 2-1 Win over UNC-Pembroke

Freshmen Eric Stiefield and Enrique Barrientos got their college career off to a good start on Thursday night, as they led the Cobras to a 2-1 win over the UNC-Pembroke Braves. Stiefield (Eustis, Fla.) scored both of Coker’s goals, while Barrientos (Plano, Texas) gave Stiefield the opportunity to score, assisting on both goals.

Lady Cobras Fall to Newberry in Opener

The Coker women’s soccer team opened their 2009 season on a rough note Thursday night. The Lady Cobras (0-1) fell to Newberry College (1-0) 4-1, starting this season the same way they ended last season,  giving the Coker women 12 straight losses dating back to Oct. 1 of last year.

Coker women drop opener

Newberry jumped on Coker early, scoring two goals in the game’s first 13 minutes and netting all the team’s four goals in the first half. Newberry outshot the Cobras 22-2 en route to the victory.

Coker men upend Braves

Despite playing at a man disadvantage for the final 56 minutes of regulation, Coker used a pair of goals from Eric Stiefield and limited UNCP to just a trio of shots to post a victory over the Braves in the season opener for both squads.

Live Stats available for men’s and women’s soccer

The Coker College Sports Information Department will offer live play-by-play statistical coverage of this evening’s women’s and men’s soccer contests. The Lady Cobras will take on Newberry College, while the Cobra Men face the Braves of UNC-Pembroke.
