Noah Lascell scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute as fifth-seeded Coker College upset ttop seed Lees-McRae College Bobcats 1-0 on Friday in the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas men’s soccer tournament.

Barton College has been voted by Conference Carolinas head coaches as this year’s preseason league favorite, while Coker College was picked seventh.

When the Francis Marion men’s basketball team opens practice this morning, there will be plenty of new faces on the court. FMU coach Gary Edwards has brought in 14 players, the most new faces he’s had in his career, to help fill the void of players lost from last season.

Coker volleyball falls to St. Andrews

Sophomore Heather Bolwerk and senior Galina Podolsky both recorded double-doubles and combined for 14 of the St. Andrews 20 service aces as the Knight volleyball team defeated Coker 25-9, 18-25, 25-14, 24-26, 15-10 on Wednesday night.

The Coker volleyball team took another hard loss afternoon in Conference Carolinas volleyball, falling 3-1 to Queens
The Lady Cobras took the first set 31-29, but were unable to get close to a win in the next three sets, losing 25-10, 25-15 and 25-16.

Bobcats hand No. 23 Cobras first loss

Lees-McRae’s Berin Boracic tallied all three goals , as the fourth-ranked Bobcats defeated the No. 23 Coker 3-1 on Saturday.

Anderson defeats Coker volleyball

Using a balanced attack, the Anderson volleyball team claimed its’ second consecutive win by blanking conference opponent Coker, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-10)
Jamie Lancaster, who is eighth in the nation in kills per set, recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs, while freshman Paulette Rivers garnered a match-high 13 kills. Doggett posted 19 assists in limited action and Moffitt recorded three kills and 12 assists.

Coker’s Daniel Shirzad’s goal in the match’s 75th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Cobras defeated Erskine 3-2 on Saturday in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action.
