Coker women hope to turn things around
The Coker women’s basketball team entered last season with high hopes as it looked to establish relevance in Conference Carolinas.
But the 2008-09 campaign turned into a repeat of the season before. Once again, key injuries were the story as the Cobras stumbled to an 11-17 overall record, though they did post a respectable 10-12 conference record.

Redshirt freshman Travon Woodall scored 21 points, Pitt shot nearly 55 percent from the floor and the Panthers claimed an 83-40 exhibition win over Coker College on Sunday at the Petersen Events Center.
Coker men’s soccer wins Conference Carolinas tourney title
The Coker men’s soccer team defeated Belmont Abbey 1-0, winning 6-5 on penalty kicks to claim the school’s first ever Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Championship on Sunday.
It was a neck and neck battle for more than 120 minutes of play with neither team conceding even the slightest advantage to the other. Belmont Abbey held a 13-10 shot advantage, while each goalkeeper made six saves in the match.

Senior guard Eboni Fields scored 13 points to lead three players in double figures and the Francis Marion claimed a 65-56 exhibition win over the NCAA Division I Winthrop Eagles on Saturday in women’s basketball action.
