“Smokin’” Joe Frazier was known for his vicious left hooks and the blows he would deliver in the boxing ring.  Coastal has its own Fraser, and he delivered the knock out punch in their home opening victory.

Senior fullback Tommy Fraser had his best day as a Chanticleer, and led CCU to its first win of the season, 24-17 over Monmouth Saturday. The Carolina Forest product had 14 carries for 74 yards, most of them coming in the final quarter as CCU was able to run the clock out.  On two occasions the Chanticleers faced third and long on their final drive and were able to convert on long runs by Fraser.

After the game both Fraser and CCU Head Coach David Bennett gave credit to the offensive line for creating big holes for the bruising back.

Fraser red-shirted due to injury last year. In 2007, he had 81 yards all season on just 24 carries.  CCU hits the road to play at Towson this Saturday.
