Coastal Carolina QB competition is on again
CCU looks to rebound this weekend
CCU looks to rebound this weekendJamie Childers made the first start of his career Saturday against Towson. The CCU coaching staff is still trying to figure out if he will get start number two.
Both Childers and Zach MacDowall (the opening day starter) are fighting for the starting position for Saturday’s home game against North Carolina A and T. Both are battling nagging injuries but should be able to be healthy enough to play. Head Coach David Bennett says he’d like to use only one of them, because that would mean that one of them was playing so well there would be no need to take them out.
But Bennett has been impressed with how hard the pair have worked against each other in practice.
Childers was the favorite to the start last year as a redshirt freshman, but a bout with viral meningitis severely hampered his progression. MacDowall started most of the year and beat out Childers for the opener this year. They both played against Towson, and had fairly even stat lines.
