LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) — Tim Maypray ran for 155 yards yards on 22 carries and accounted for two touchdowns to lead Virginia Military Institute to a 47-20 victory over Coastal Carolina on Saturday.
Maypray had a 19-yard touchdown pass to Michael Rainey-Wiles, rushed for a 4-yard score and also had 59 yards receiving on three catches for the Keydets (3-3, 1-0 Big South Conference). Kyle Hughes, who completed 8 of 12 passes for 191 yards, added two touchdowns passes and one interception.
Chaz Jones put VMI on the board first with a 3-yard touchdown run at 9:47 in the opening quarter, then Coastal Carolina’s Eric O’Neal answered with a 21-yard rushing score to tie the game at 7-7.
Brandon Autry’s 31-yard fumble recovery score put the Chanticleers (3-4, 0-2) ahead 14-7 at the close of the first.
