Childers ‘probably’ will start for Coastal Saturday

Jamie Childers may finally make his first start for the Chanticleers Saturday at Towson.  Via text message, David Bennett said that Childers will “probably” start as but incumbent starter Zach MacDowall will be available.

Childers has taken most of the snaps in practice as MacDowall nurses a sore leg.

The sophomore QB was supposed to get an opportunity to start last year, but a bout of meningitis severely impaired his progression, and MacDowall passed him on the depth chart. 

Childers saw minimal time last year.  In six games, he rushed 22 times for 61 yards and one touchdown, and was 6-for-17 for 47 yards and one TD passing.
