Brown earns Big South honor
Coastal Carolina’s defense was dominating on Saturday night, and Monday one of its key components was honored by the conference. Coastal Carolina linebacker E.J. Brown was named the Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against North Carolina A&T.
Brown recorded a career-best five tackles in Coastal Carolina’s 28-7 win, including a pair of solo stops, a half-sack for minus-9 yards, and his first career interception. Brown’s 29-yard interception return in the second quarter set up the Chanticleers’ second score of the contest, one of two plays he made that ended A&T drives.
The Goose Creek product is the first Chanticleer to earn a Big South weekly honor this year.
Coastal Carolina has the week off before opening Big South Conference action, Sat., Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., hosting VMI at Brooks Stadium.
