Goodman ready for active role on Clemson

It did not take long for Malliciah Goodman to get Clemson coaches’ attention.  The true freshman from West Florence enrolled last spring, and will see major action in his first fall in Death Valley.

Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney confirmed on Sunday that Goodman will definitely not redshirt.  The 6’4”, 265 lb defensive end is listed second behind the depth chart behind another player who saw major action as a true freshman, DaQuan Bowers.  Goodman said that he will also see plenty of action on special teams.

Goodman said that he enrolled early not because he was dead set on playing in 2009 - he just wanted to start working out with teammates.  But some assistant coaches say he looks like an upperclassman on the field.
