UNC sweeps Clemson with 8-4 win

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) _ Kyle Seager hit a two-run homer in the fifth to put North Carolina up for good as the Tar Heels swept the weekend series against Clemson with an 8-4 win Sunday.

It was Seager's third home run of the series.

The Heels (29-7, 13-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) pounded out 18 hits, including three each from Seager, Dustin Ackley and Chad Flack.

Clemson (18-17, 6-12) jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first and retook the lead at 4-3 two innings later. Clemson stranded 11 runners, including twice leaving the bases loaded.

Tar Heel reliever Rob Catapano (3-0) struck out four and gave up just one hit in four innings for the win. Tyler Trice picked up his first save in the final 1 2/3 innings.

Ryan Hinson (2-5) gave up five runs on 11 hits in five innings for the loss.
