Poythress, Lewis lead Georgia to win over Clemson

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) _ Rich Poythress hit a home run and had three RBIs and Joey Lewis added a solo homer to help Georgia beat Clemson 11-3 on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs (16-10) jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Matt Olson scored off an error, Ryan Peisel scored after a wild pitch and Poythress had an RBI groundout. In the second, Lewis hit solo homer and Peisel scored off a balk to put Georgia ahead by five runs.
Georgia scored four more runs in the fourth, pushing its lead to 9-0. Olson had an RBI triple, Gordon Beckham and Bryce Massanari each had a run-scoring singles and Poythress scored a run on a double.
Alex McRee (3-1) gave up no hits and runs and had seven strikeouts in four innings for the Bulldogs. He also had two walks.
Craig Gullickson (3-1) allowed four hits, five runs and two walks in two innings for the Tigers (18-9).
