Bobby Browning has won nearly every school and state award imaginable during his six-year career at West Florence.

Former West Florence standout Sherquita Bostick was named the Daktronics All-Southeast Region Softball Player of the year.

After shocking Sumter on Tuesday, West Florence looked for its second consecutive upset Friday night when Region 6-4A-leading Hartsville rolled into Knights Castle.

West Florence came into Tuesday night’s Region 6-4A matchup with Sumter knowing it would have to take the air out of the ball to have any chance to defeat a much bigger Gamecock squad. The Knights did just that and used strong defense and a fourth-quarter run pull out a 52-44 upset of the Gamecocks.

After a back-and-forth first quarter against Crestwood on Friday, the Wilson Tigers looked to gain the upper hand to start the second. Trevonte Dixon’s 3-pointer gave them a spark, and Alan-Michael Thompson’s alley-oop dunk helped them catch fire.
