A judge has thrown out three charges against former Santee Police Chief Kenneth McCaster, who was fired as Lake City’s police chief three years ago amid controversy.

An interesting survey crossed my desk recently. It stated that, according to an insurance company study, 33 million drivers would flunk the driver test if they took it today. The study also showed that New Jersey was the worst state for driver knowledge, but it was not too comforting to find that South Carolina drivers rank 39th in being the dumbest drivers.

Dr. Rachel Easterly, charged with killing 15 year old Tommy Sullivan of Murrells Inlet, pleaded guilty in Conway to hit and run involving death Wednesday afternoon. A judge sentenced Easterly to 15 years in prison, suspended to 3 years probation after she serves 4 years.
