Timmonsville school bonds refinanced to save taxpayer money

Members of the Florence School District 4 Board of Trustees have approved the refinancing general obligation bonds from 1998, which is expected to save taxpayers in the Timmonsville-based district more than $167,000.

Timmonsville men sentenced in armed robberies

Two Timmonsville men have been sentenced for their role in a series of armed robberies in the Pee Dee, U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins said in a press release.
U.S. District Judge R. Bryan Harwell sentenced 21-year-old Richard Eugene Powell and 38-year-old Tracey Scott Rich to 25 years and 15 years, respectively, for armed robbery and using a firearm in the commission of the robbery.

A Timmonsville man was shot and killed early Saturday morning at a club on Cale Yarborough Highway. Florence Coroner M.G. “Bubba” Matthews identified the victim as Cornell Mack, 21, of Smith Street.
