Gavdunova wins marathon match as Francis Marion beats CSU 5-4 in regional final

Sophomore Jitka Gavdunova rallied from a set down to win the deciding singles match at No.3 and give seventh-ranked Francis Marion University a 5-4 win over eighth-ranked Columbus State University, Saturday afternoon (May 9) in the championship match of the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Southeast Regional in Florence, S.C.

The Francis Marion University men’s tennis team could not overcome a 2-1 deficit after doubles play and the 25th-ranked Patriots saw their season come to an end with a 5-1 loss to fifth-ranked USC Aiken, Friday afternoon (May 8) in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Southeast Regional in Savannah.

Francis Marion Women beat Erskine 5-0 in NCAA regional semifinal

Seventh-ranked Francis Marion University lost only four games in sweeping the three doubles matches and the Patriots went on to a 5-0 win over 36th-ranked Erskine College, Friday morning (May 8) in a semifinal match at the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Southeast Regional in Florence, S.C.
