Surfside Beach talks trees, fire, and holiday

At Tuesday’s council meeting, the first one after the start of the New Year, council unanimously approved a 30-day moratorium on the cutting, pruning, removal, or replacement of trees inside the town.

Surfside Beach makes final decision on smoking

The revised ordinance makes smoking in a public building, business, and some outdoor areas, including the beach, a civil infraction.  That means if you’re in violation, you will have to pay a fine, no less than $10 and no more than $25.

Surfside Beach officials plan ‘changes’ for smoking ordinance

At a workshop Tuesday night, council met to talk about several ordinances, including littering, animals, trees, jury commission, and the smoking ban ordinance.  And while no voting happened and no motions were made, town council members said they plan to make some changes.

Myrtle Beach woman charged in felony DUI case

A Myrtle Beach woman is free on bond after Surfside Beach Police charged her with hitting a man on a bicycle early Saturday morning. Police charged 42-year-old Tara Lies Forsythe with felony driving under the influence with great bodily injury.

Surfside Beach Police say cash, credit cards, and checks were stolen from a home in the 600 Block of Ocean Boulevard nearly a month ago, on Sept. 2.
