Francis Marion softball coach Stacey Vallee has announced the addition of Spring Valley High School product Rayna McClinton to the Patriot roster for the 2010 season. 

Francis Marion University junior left-handed softball pitcher Michaela Wolf has been named to a second All-Region squad, this time to the second-team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Southeast Region team.  She was selected in the utility player/pitcher spot.

The South Florence and Johnsonville softball teams made it farther than most would have thought possible at the beginning of the year. In fact, both coaches agreed the only real disappointment was how the season ended.

Buford swept away Johnsonville’s state title dreams with a second straight shutout to capture the Class A softball championship on Wednesday night at the Lady Jackets’ field.

The Pee Dee was well-represented when the all-state teams and rosters for the North-South softball all-star games were announced Wednesday.

No softball team in the United States has as many softball state titles as Crescent High School.  And now they have one more.  Wednesday night Crescent topped Waccamaw 3-2 to sweep the Warriors in the Class AA state title series.

Socastee High School has a history of sending softball players to USC-Salkehatchie.  Add Crystal Long to that long list. 

The Carolina Academy’s softball and baseball teams teams have wrapped up their run in the South Carolina Independent School Association’s playoffs with losses to Colleton Prep and First Baptist in Charleston.

This is the third consecutive year the Pee Dee Academy softball team has finished the season among the top in a powerful class AA.

The Crescent Tigers are a softball dynasty.  And Waccamaw is one more loss away from being just another team that has lost to them. 

Wednesday will present the Johnsonville High School softball team with a new challenge. The Flashes have lost a few games this season, but none of the losses have pushed them within sight of the end of their season.

After Monday’s opening game of the Class 4A softball state championship, South Florence coach Bobby Jones and the Bruins were left to wonder what might have been.

The Waccamaw softball team’s dream of its first appearance in the Class AA state championship series came down to what it usually does the right arm of Ashley Czechner.

Johnsonville scored all three of its runs in the first inning and Rachel Gaster shut out East Clarendon on one hit as the Flashes earned a 3-0 win Friday in the Class A lower state softball championship.
