Taylor lives up to all-star billing in RedWolves’ win
On Tuesday morning, John Taylor was named a Coastal Plain League all-star. On Tuesday night, he pitched like one. The right-hander gave up one run over seven innings, leading the Florence RedWolves to a 9-6 win over the Wilson Tobs.
DiMatteo makes CPL all-star roster
On June 11, Sam DiMatteo couldn’t smell the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game. In fact, he was having trouble just sniffing out his next hit. But DiMatteo has been on a tear since then and was selected Tuesday to play in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game.

Brad Raj had two hits and two RBI as the Florence RedWolves defeated Asheboro 6-4 on Sunday. The win moves Florence back in first place in the South Division by a 1/2 game over idle Wilson.

Francis Marion’s Taylor Norfleet’s two-run double in the eighth inning helped the Fayetteville SwampDogs to a 3-2 win over the Florence RedWolves on Thursday. Florence led 2-1 going into the eighth inning before Norfleet’s game-winner off reliever John Taylor, who took the loss in relief of Brad Raj.

After facing just one batter Tuesday night, Florence RedWolves right-hander John Taylor looked as if he might be on the way to his worst outing of the summer. But after giving up a lead-off home run to Jared Humphreys and a one-out single to Brendan Rowland in the first inning, Taylor held the Fayetteville SwampDogs hitless through the sixth en route to a 9-4 win at Legion Field.
