Daniel Miele knocked home two goals to lead The King’s Academy to a 3-0 win over Covenant Centreal in a first-round SCISA 2A state playoff match that was cut short by lightning with 23 minutes to play Monday.

Jordan Weed shot 77 and helped Christ Church to the overall lead after the first day of the Class A golf state tournament on Monday at the Wellman Club in Johnsonville.

PREP SOFTBALL: Lake View beats Hannah-Pamplico
Avonlea Cooke struck out 10 in six innings, surrendering just three hits and Lake View put the game away with a five-run sixth inning to beat Hannah-Pamplico 9-1 on Thursday in the first round of the Class A softball playoffs.
PREP BASEBALL: Swamp Foxes power past Timberland
Jonathan Elliott hit a two-run homer and Russ White had a three-run blast to help Marion beat Timberland 6-1 on Thursday in the first round of the Class 2A District VIII baseball tournament.

GOLF ROUNDUP: West’s Behr earns medalist honors at region tourney
West Florence’s Stephen Behr shot a 68 in the second round of the Region 6-4A tournament and earned medalist honors in the event.
Behr finished with a 9-under 133 and won the tournament by nine shots.

The Knights rallied from two goals down and then won 3-2 in a shootout against Carolina Forest.
GOLF ROUNDUP: East Clarendon wins region title
LAMAR — Tripp Kirby’s two-day total of 156 earned him medalist honors and helped East Clarendon win the Region 7-A title at Governor’s Run Golf Club.
The Wolverines’ 724 easily outpaced homestanding Lamar’s 821.
