In the season opener, Hartsville’s dominant serving and front row hitters triumphed as the Red Foxes defeated Darlington 3-0 by scores of 25-4, 25-12 and 25-12.

Torrential rain prevented Hartsville from utilizing its passing attack Friday night.
After setting several offensive records through the air in a rout of Camden last week, the Red Foxes used their ground game and defense to roll to a 31-14 victory over Darlington at Falcon Field.

Maranatha volleyball wins opener
After dropping the first set, Maranatha Christian volleyball won the next three sets to defeat Calvary Christian on Thursday in the season opener for both teams, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Silver Foxes’ season comes to a close
A nine-run third inning by defending Class A champion Bamberg-Ehrhardt placed Lamar in a hole it never escaped from in a lower state elimination game.
Reece Poole’s solo home run in the top of the first put the Silver Foxes ahead 1-0. Bamberg tied the game in the bottom of the second after capitalizing on a fielding error by Poole at third base, then broke it open in the third after sending 14 batters to the plate.
HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Wolverines earn matchup with Flashes
Kristan McElveen tripled in the tying run then scored the winning run on an error in the fifth inning of Wednesday’s game as East Clarendon eliminated two-time defending Class A lower state softball champion Lake View 2-1.

Robert E. Lee scored four runs in the first inning and Jordan Atkinson and Jamie Douglas combined to limit Wilson Hall to three hits as Robert E. Lee beat Wilson Hall 6-2 on Monday in a softball game that ended early because of rain.

Daniel Miele knocked home two goals to lead The King’s Academy to a 3-0 win over Covenant Centreal in a first-round SCISA 2A state playoff match that was cut short by lightning with 23 minutes to play Monday.
