Top-seeded and unbeaten Dillon swept its first-round Class 2A playoff matchup with Andrews 3-0 on Monday in high school volleyball action.

South Florence’s Matt Humphries won the Region 6-4A cross country meet individual title for the fourth straight year, helping the Bruins to a third-place finish. Carolina Forest topped the boys’ field and Sumter finished first in the girls’ competition in Wednesday’s meet in Sumter.

Barrett Goodson caught at 6-yard pass from Lee Schurlknight with 55 seconds remaining, and Schurlknight ran in the 2-point conversion on a quarterback draw to help The Byrnes Schools beat W.W. King 30-29 on Friday in high school football.

Kayla Sanderson had 18 service points, including seven aces, and made 16 assists in Lake View’s 25-18, 25-19, 25-21 win over Carvers Bay in in girls volleyball Wednesday.

Depris Ford had five kills and Torey Hinson had six digs to lead Dillon to a three-game sweep of Wilson on Monday.

Trinity Collegiate boys get cross country win.

Dillon’s volleyball team kept its unbeaten streak alive with a 3-0 sweep of Aynor on Tuesday.

COLUMBIA — Trinity Collegiate’s boys took three of the top 10 runners as the Titans took home first place at the Highlander Invitational at Heathwood Hall.
Trinity defeated 12 other squads, including host Heathwood Hall and the defending SCISA 3A champion St. Joseph’s.

FLORENCE — The West Florence girls tennis team dropped only one set in winning its 13th match of the season following a 6-0 win over rival South Florence on Tuesday.

West Florence swept all six matches against Waccamaw to improve to 10-2 with a 6-0 win Monday in high school girls tennis action.

The South Florence boys and girls each captured first in the five-team cross country meet held at Wilson High School on Wednesday. The Bruins’ Matt Humphries (16:20) took first in the boys race.

The West Florence girls tennis team didn’t drop a set in picking up its fifth win of the year with a 6-0 win over Darlington on Tuesday.

Jerrod Dargan and Jaquavius Peebles each had touchdown runs and Matthew Mitchell caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Norris to help Lamar beat Timmonsville 26-6 on Friday.
Anthony McAllister also had a 53-yard punt return to aid the Silver Foxes’ cause.

Lake View bounced back from a season-opening loss to Dillon with a 51-0 win over Lincoln on Thursday. No other details were given.

Dillon opened its volleyball season with a 3-0 sweep of Wilson on Wednesday, winning by game scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-21.
